Gurupurab Celebration
Guru Nanak Jayanti
This year we celebrated the 553rd birth anniversary of the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Dev, who laid the foundation of Sikhism. To commemorate this occasion, students were taken to nearby Gurudwara on 7th November 2022. They had a chance to understand the message of oneness and compassion shared by Guru Nanak Dev. They followed all customs before entering the Gurudwara like washing their hands & feet, and covering their head. The soothing 'Shabads' helped the students better imbibe the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. Later, the students experienced real-life Langar in the school backyard to understand 'Vand Chakko' which teaches sharing and giving to lead a meaningful life. They were encouraged to follow 'Kirat Karo' which signifies one should always work hard, speak the truth & do good deeds. A sense of peace & tranquillity filled the air. Everyone spent the day with happy smiles & delight in their heart learning about the ethos of Sikhism.
